While I personally wasn't a fan of Jennifer Lopez's recent beehive bun updo, I'm a huge proponent for the hairstyle she rocked last night! These sexy, tousled tresses give me LIFE!

Created by hairstylist Juan Carlos Maciques of the Rita Hazan Salon (i.e. one of my favorite places on earth!) he described the look as "coquettish, young and effortless." I call it hot.

Here's some tips he gave on you can create the look at home:

"Roller set her hair in red velcro rollers with volumizing spray making sure not to perfectly engulf her hair into them. Whichever strands were left out were not restricted to become set into the rollers. Fly-aways are a good thing in a modern day swept do. Once released, the hair is pulled back into a very unkempt twist, letting those free strands loose to become part of the modernity of the sweep. Pin into place. It was the complement to the whimsy of the gown to have a very free flowing and undone look to the hair. A slept in updo. Sexy yet determined. Barex, Volumizante spray as a prep and then a bit of Ellenette hair spray as a finish."

It's true when they say that blondes have more fun. I dyed my hair blonde a couple of years ago after moving here to the concrete jungle and (despite a few lapses of the dark haired look) have pretty much stuck with it. The love of my life Adrian Wallace (senior hair colorist at the Rita Hazan Salon) is responsible for coloring my blonde tresses. (He also does my good friend Maura Lynch's from ELLE magazine; that's us pictured below juggling beers during her recent birthday activities haha)

With that said, I woke up one day and decided that I wanted to add more hair to my cropped 'do and called up my good friend David Lopez. He's an amazing hairstylist that I was lucky to meet while working in retail hell after first moving to NY and is THE next big thing. So, we bought some hair and then he went to work sewing it in.

The result? Beautiful, bouncy, blonde locks. I mean, I could EASILY fill in for a Victoria's Secret model, wouldn't you say? Ugh. L-O-V-E.

Hey Glamazons! I may not have a full time office job anymore, but I can't remember the last time I was really this busy. Yes, I can honestly say that I'm even busier now than I was when working at The Magazine...if that's possible haha. Today was a pretty great day, though. One of my good friends that works on beauty brands at a PR firm contacted me to be a hair model for a Valentine's Day television segment and, of course, I accepted. My first foray into modeling! (Because, as you may remember, I secretly want to be a model...well, minus the drama of being a certain size and having to deal with the stress of looking like how everyone else wants you to look. Ok, so maybe I don't really want to be a model, but I like the idea of being one. I mean, free designer clothes, bags, shoes and trips to Paris for life?! Who wouldn't want that hook up?!) I digress. Sorry.

So, I accepted and was pleasantly surprised to find out that Ted Gibson would be doing my hair! The Ted Gibson! Even as a beauty editor, I couldn't ever get in to see him. Now, I feel like my tresses have finally been blessed by the trinity of hair gods. Yes, it's that serious. He asked me if I were willing to cut my hair even shorter and I gave him the green light to do whatever he wanted. With every snip of the scissors, I grew more and more excited! I mean, he must have cut off at least 3 inches or more of my hair (especially in the back). It's the shortest it's ever been and I'm in l-o-v-e! The perfect cut to start Fashion Week off right. Now, I only need to get in to see my colorist Adrian at the Rita Hazan Salon for a color refresher (because I can never be blonde enough in life) and I'll be set. What do you guys think?!
